Using Affirmations for Postnatal Depression

Using Affirmations for Postnatal Depression

Affirmations for postnatal depression are a gentle and loving way to help yourself heal during what can be the hardest period of your life.

Postnatal depression, also known as postpartum depression, can leave a new Mum feeling depressed, anxious, worthless or overwhelmed. They may have feelings of dread, thoughts of suicide or poor bonding with their baby. A horrific condition, a previous history of depression can be a contributing factor, as can having low self-esteem, money worries, having limited support or being young. The reality is though, postnatal depression can affect any new Mum or Dad.

Using Affirmations for Postnatal Depression

The daily use of affirmations has been shown to help you:

  • Change negative thought patterns into positive ones
  • Concentrate on achieving your goals
  • Increase your self-confidence and positivity
  • Motivate you to act and reach for your goals
  • Improve our quality of life
  • Develop better relationships
  • Reduce levels of stress and anxiety

Affirmations for postnatal depression therefore have the potential to help you love yourself again and heal from the stress you’ve been under. Each day, take the time to read, speak and think about your affirmations. They’ll quickly become an anticipated part of your day, and the more you use them, the more opportunities your mind has to take them onboard.

Here are a few examples of affirmations for postnatal depression to consider:

  • I love my baby
  • I care about my family
  • I am strong
  • I can do this
  • I am the best Mum for my baby
  • I am doing an amazing job
  • I am surrounded by love and so is my baby
  • I am the most important person in my baby’s world. How I feel matters and I choose to feel safe.
  • My body produces all the nourishment my baby needs
  • I love my body for all that it is and for all it has created
  • My confidence as a mother grows stronger everyday
  • I am so thankful for my body – it made a miracle

We have had a lot of positive feedback from Mums who used our Birth Affirmations. Designed to help expectant mothers with mindfulness and relaxation, they can be used or even tweaked for when baby has arrived.

As always, I’m here to help. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you need any advice or questions.
